Attorney Fanelli Speaks to PA School Solicitors Association

Attorney Patrick Fanelli, school lawyerAttorney Patrick Fanelli served as a guest speaker at this week’s Summer Solicitor’s Symposium sponsored by the Pennsylvania School Board Solicitors Association. This annual event held in State College, PA, is attended by more than 100 school lawyers from across Pennsylvania and provides an important opportunity for school attorneys to remain up to date on the most recent developments in the law.

At this week’s event, Fanelli presented on the topic of teacher dismissals, addressing recent appellate court decisions that potentially alter the process that districts use for firing teachers. These new cases interpreting the School Code’s employee termination procedures compel a fresh look at longstanding practices that may skip important steps and risk ruining or prolonging the process.

Attorney Fanelli also currently serves as the President of the Pennsylvania School Boards Solicitors Association for 2017.

He has presented at numerous other seminars in the field of education law, including the Sam Francis School Law Seminar in Pittsburgh, the Penn State School Study Council Seminar at the Dickinson School of Law, and various other seminars and events sponsored by PSBA.

Fanelli focuses his practice on helping public and private employers navigate the increasingly regulated landscape of labor and employment law. Every year Pennsylvania school districts and other public entities turn to him for assistance in the collective bargaining process, while a number of others seek his guidance as a general solicitor.

Attorney Willett Leads Chamber of Commerce Seminar on New Overtime Rules

Tuesday morning, June 28, 2016, Attorney Aimee Willett addressed a packed room of business leaders at the Altoona Grand Hotel, to talk about what the new overtime regulations will mean for businesses. The new regulations will change the status of many employees as it pertains to exempt and non-exempt status, so the Legislative Action Committee of the Blair County Chamber of Commerce organized the seminar in order to help employers understand in greater detail just how they will need to comply and how they should prepare for the new rules to take effect later this year.

Aimee regularly practices in the area of labor and employment law and has represented employers in matters before state and federal trial and appellate courts in Pennsylvania, arbitrations, local agency hearings and other administrative proceedings before the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and Pennsylvania Labor Relations Board.

Blair County Student of the Month

Congratulations to the 2014-2015 Fanelli Willett Students of the Month

Fanelli Willett Student of the Month 2014-2015Fanelli Willett Law Offices and its attorneys were proud to sponsor the Student of the Month as published in the Altoona Mirror throughout the 2014-2015 school year.

Seen here is the complete list of students who were honored each month. Students were selected by their schools and were honored for a number of different reasons. As school law attorneys we regularly get to see the outstanding achievements accomplished by students, and we wanted to honor them and make sure that the Altoona Mirror‘s readers also get to learn about these great students and their hard work. A new student was named each month, and a profile was published in the Life section on the last Thursday of each month throughout the year. A cumulative list also was published monthly, and this list shown here is the final version that was published recently.

We thank the Altoona Mirror for their partnership in highlighting this great work, and we congratulate all of the students for the achievement.
